Who doesn’t like to breathe clean air in his or her own house? Everyone knows that having a clean home also means having clean air to breathe inside your house. The air filter is responsible for maintaining the heating and air conditioning system’s coils and keeping the heat exchanger clean.

The air filter of your house should be changed regularly. In choosing an air filter, you need to consider how frequently you must change or clean it. Every unique furnace air filter has different cleaning intervals.

Another thing you must consider in choosing an air filter is its material and style. The performance of the unit is dependent on the size and density of the used material in making the unit. The quantity and size of the dust or materials being filtered also affect the overall performance of an air filter.

There are also some high end filters with pleats that were charged electro-statically to attract and keep in place other minute particles. To select the appropriate size and shape of the air filter to be used, you can ask a professional what is best for the size of your home.

The Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) must also be considered in choosing a furnace air filter. The indicated MERV of the unit will be the basis of its capacity to filter and hold particles of sizes 3 microns to 10 microns.
